I love bringing these along because it keeps her really engaged and it is something that we can do during downtime on our travels! Melissa & Doug have great toddler wooden puzzles. :) If you don’t own a pair and don’t want to spend the extra money on them, then bring headphones for yourself! I can let Delilah play her stuff as loud as she wants, and I pop in a good podcast. Before we leave, I make sure to have movies downloaded, plenty of games ready, and have it fully charged I just am not the biggest fan of excessive screen time. I try to utilize all my other toddler activities before giving into the iPad. It’s also helpful because it helps prevent these items from disappearing into the abyss of the car seat! These are great because your child will have somewhere to do all her activities, from watching movies, coloring, to eating. It’s nice to have headphones, so she can listen to those stories while I listen to something else. But these are a lifesaver! My daughter loves listening to the story of The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Lion King. Make sure you download these ahead of time and obviously don’t mess with it while you are driving. This way she can dip and paint without asking me to refill it every couple of minutes. So, I put a cup of water in her cup holder and a paintbrush. We have actually had the same one for a year! It comes with a refillable water paintbrush, but it tends to run out quickly. The Water Wow coloring pads are also reusable, which is a huge bonus. On every road trip, I take my daughter to Target and let her pick out a new “road trip coloring book.” She gets really excited about it, which usually helps keep her interest longer while in her car seat. Here are some of our go-tos: clementines, bananas, fruit leather, macadamia nuts, beef jerky, cheese, squeezable chia packets, bread, peanut butter crackers. I avoid sugary snacks and drinks because I’m not about to have a sugared up toddler in the car with me for the next 8 hours. I try to be prepared and just have a boatload of snacks. Toddlers can eat their body weight in snacks one day, and then the next decision to eat 1 cracker all day.
